## The Adoption Problem That Training Can't Fix

Health systems keep investing in AI tools that clinicians don't use. The pattern is consistent: leadership approves the tool, IT deploys it, the vendor runs training sessions, and three months later utilization sits below 20%.

The standard response is more training. Better onboarding. Champions programs. Lunch-and-learns. Gamification.

None of this addresses the actual problem. Clinicians aren't failing to adopt AI because they don't understand it. They're declining to adopt it because they have legitimate concerns that nobody has answered.

**Prove the governance is real.** Give clinical leaders — not just IT leadership — authority over AI deployment decisions. When the chief of surgery decides which AI tools are appropriate for surgical workflows, surgeons trust the decision.

**Prove the liability framework exists.** Work with your malpractice carrier, your legal team, and your clinical leadership to define clear protocols for AI-assisted decision-making. Clinicians need to know their professional standing is protected.

## The Counterintuitive Truth

The health systems with the highest clinician AI adoption aren't the ones with the best training programs or the most aggressive rollout timelines.

They're the ones that took clinician concerns seriously, addressed the PHI and liability questions at the architectural level, and gave clinical leaders genuine governance authority.

More training for clinicians isn't the answer. Better architecture for health systems is. When the trust problem is solved, the adoption problem solves itself.
