Connector · Bank lending and account opening platform

Last updated: October 20, 2026

**ibl.ai publishes a free nCino agent skill: a SKILL.md that teaches an AI agent to read and write nCino data and expose it as an MCP tool. Download it, connect your own nCino credentials, and run the agent on ibl.ai Agentic OS, where you own all the code and the data.**

nCino runs commercial, small business, consumer and mortgage lending and deposit account opening for banks and credit unions. Its core platform lives in the bank's Salesforce org; loan, borrower and collateral records sit there.

## What is the nCino API, and what can an agent read from it?

Loan and relationship records are objects in the bank's Salesforce org, reachable with SOQL and sObject APIs. Separate nCino APIs cover the U.S. Mortgage platform, consumer loan and deposit origination, and eVault.

- API: Salesforce Platform APIs on the nCino org; nCino Mortgage API, Consumer Banking APIs and eVault API (Mixed)
- Access: Issued by your administrator
- Authentication: OAuth 2.0 (Salesforce org); API key and secret exchanged for a token (nCino product APIs)

The bank's Salesforce admin grants org API access. nCino product API credentials are issued per institution, and each credential only reaches the endpoints and methods toggled on for it in the portal.

Org data uses Salesforce OAuth. For the Mortgage API, endpoint authorization changes apply on the next token request made with the credential's API key and secret.

### What can an agent read from nCino?

- **Loans and relationships** — SOQL over nCino objects in the Salesforce org; object API names depend on the installed package.
- **Org configuration** — Via nCino MCP: validation rules, flows, approval processes, Apex, page layouts, permission sets, picklist values.
- **Data model** — nCino MCP resolve_schema and query_soql tools against a registered sandbox org.
- **Release notes and help** — nCino MCP search_releases and search_help_documentation; no org connection needed.

### What can an agent write to nCino?

- **Records (sandbox)** — nCino MCP record_upsert creates or updates records in a registered sandbox org.
- **Feature flags and properties** — nCino MCP manage_feature_flags and manage_system_properties (sandbox only).
- **Metadata (sandbox)** — nCino MCP metadata_deploy pushes configuration to a sandbox org; batches are not atomic.

Loan files hold GLBA nonpublic personal information: borrower income, tax IDs, credit and collateral details. Sandbox copies of production data carry the same obligations.

## How do I connect nCino to an AI agent over MCP?

nCino publishes an official MCP server: [nCino MCP](https://developer.ncino.com/ncino-mcp/docs/ncino-mcp).

Early access. Server https://mcp.ncino.com/mcp, OAuth 2.0 via IdP federation. Reaches registered sandbox orgs only; acts as the nCino Communicator service user.

You can register that server on ibl.ai as it is, or use the SKILL.md below when you want the agent to call the Salesforce Platform APIs on the nCino org; nCino Mortgage API, Consumer Banking APIs and eVault API directly.

On ibl.ai an MCP connection is three records, and a working integration always needs all three:

1. **Register the server** — `POST …/mcp-servers/` with its URL, a transport (`sse`, `websocket` or `streamable_http`) and an `auth_type` of `none`, `token` or `oauth2`.
2. **Create a connection** that holds the credential, scoped to the whole organization (`platform`), to a single agent, or to each user (`user`).
3. **Enable it on the agent** — `mcp-tool` in `tool_slugs` and the server id in `mcp_servers`. Both lists are replaced, not merged, so read the settings first.

For an API key or a service credential, one `token` connection at `platform` scope serves the whole organization; scope a connection to a single agent when that agent needs narrower access than the rest.

The field reference is in [MCP server connections](https://ibl.ai/developer/platform/mcp/mcp-connections), and the [/iblai-api-agent-mcp](https://ibl.ai/developer/skills/iblai-api-agent-mcp) skill runs all three steps from a coding agent.

## What does the nCino agent skill do?

The nCino skill is one SKILL.md file named `iblai-connect-ncino`. It gives an agent the auth conventions, what to read, which writes need a person's confirmation, the ibl.ai MCP wiring, example prompts and guardrails.

[Download the nCino SKILL.md](https://ibl.ai/developer/connectors/ncino/SKILL.md)

Save it as `.claude/skills/iblai-connect-ncino/SKILL.md`, or in your agent's skills folder. The ibl.ai platform skills it calls come from one install:

```
npx skills add iblai/vibe --all
```

This connector skill is a starting point maintained on ibl.ai, not part of the iblai/vibe repository.

It was checked against nCino's documentation on October 20, 2026. Test it against your own nCino setup before you rely on it.

### What can I ask an nCino agent to do?

- “Which validation rules fire when a commercial loan moves to underwriting?”
- “List loans in the sandbox stuck in approval for more than 10 days”
- “Explain what changed in the latest nCino release for deposit account opening”
- “Turn on the feature flag for the new credit memo layout in our UAT sandbox”

## How do I run an nCino agent on ibl.ai?

[Agentic OS](https://ibl.ai/product/agentic-os) is where the agent runs on ibl.ai: it holds the nCino MCP connection, the model the agent uses, its instructions and its conversation history.

On ibl.ai you own all the code and the data, run it model-agnostic across any LLM, and pay with no per-seat pricing — so you can deploy anywhere, from your own cloud to a fully air-gapped network.

## What else should I know before connecting nCino to an AI agent?

### Is there an official nCino MCP server?

Yes. nCino publishes [nCino MCP](https://developer.ncino.com/ncino-mcp/docs/ncino-mcp).

You can register it on ibl.ai as an MCP server, or use the SKILL.md when you want the agent to call the Salesforce Platform APIs on the nCino org; nCino Mortgage API, Consumer Banking APIs and eVault API directly.

### Who can get nCino API credentials?

The bank's Salesforce admin grants org API access. nCino product API credentials are issued per institution, and each credential only reaches the endpoints and methods toggled on for it in the portal.

### Does nCino data leave my infrastructure when an ibl.ai agent uses it?

On ibl.ai, you own all the code and the data. Self-hosted in your cloud or data center, the agent, its MCP connections and its conversation logs stay inside your perimeter.

Because the platform is model-agnostic, you can point the agent at a model you host, so nCino records need not reach a third-party model provider.

### Is the nCino agent skill free to use?

Yes. The SKILL.md is a free download with no sign-up. It assumes you already have nCino credentials, and your agreement with nCino still governs how you use its API.
