## Purpose

Adjust individual learner grades, reset attempts, rescore submissions, or override scores directly from within a course on the Skills platform.

---

## Method 1: Using Staff Debug Info (Single Problem Adjustments)

1. Open the course and navigate to the specific quiz or problem.
2. Click **Staff Debug Info**.
3. Enter the learner’s username.

### Available actions:

- **Score Override** – manually assign a new score.
- **Reset Attempts** – allow the learner to retake the problem.
- **Delete Learner State** – remove all attempt history and scores.
- **Rescore Submission** – re-evaluate the submission.
- **Rescore Only if Improved** – update only if the score increases.

For problem bank questions, this works, but there is a more scalable method below.

---

## Method 2: Using User Admin (Problem-Level Controls)

1. Go to **Administrator Panel → User Admin**.
2. Enter the learner’s email or username.
3. Retrieve the block location from **Staff Debug Info** (copy the problem location).
4. Paste the block location into User Admin.

### Available options:

- Reset attempts to zero
- Rescore submission
- Override score
- Delete learner state
- Check task status

You can also apply these actions:

- To a single learner
- Or to all enrolled learners (by entering only the block location)

## Method 3: Using the Gradebook (Best for Problem Banks)

1. Open the course.
2. Click **View Gradebook**.
3. Locate the learner and the relevant subsection/exam.
4. Add a reason for the adjustment.
5. Enter the new score (e.g., 4/4 for full credit).
6. Click **Save Grade**.

This is the recommended method for problem banks, since learners often receive randomized questions.

---

## Verifying Before Adjustments

To review detailed responses before making changes:

1. Go to **Administrator Panel → Data Downloads**.
2. Generate:
   - Problem Response Report
   - Grade Report
   - Problem Grade Report
3. Download and review before applying overrides.

---

## When to Use Each Method

- **Staff Debug Info** → Quick single-question fixes.
- **User Admin** → Targeted rescoring or attempt resets.
- **Gradebook** → Best for subsection/exam-level adjustments, especially with problem banks.
- **Data Downloads** → Validate responses before making changes.

---

## Result

You can reset attempts, override scores, rescore submissions, or adjust full subsection grades—either individually or at scale—while maintaining full visibility into learner progress.
