HubSpot MCP Server & Agent Skill

Last updated

ibl.ai publishes a free HubSpot agent skill: a SKILL.md that teaches an AI agent to read and write HubSpot data and expose it as an MCP tool. Download it, connect your own HubSpot credentials, and run the agent on ibl.ai Agentic OS, where you own all the code and the data.

HubSpot is a CRM platform with marketing, sales and service tools. It stores contacts, companies, deals, tickets, line items, products, activities (calls, emails, meetings, notes, tasks) and custom objects.

What is the HubSpot API, and what can an agent read from it?

CRUD, batch (up to 100 inputs), search and associations for CRM objects at /crm/v3/objects/{objectType}: contacts, companies, deals, tickets, activities, custom objects and 40+ other types. Cursor paging via limit and after.

  • API: HubSpot CRM API (Objects API v3) (REST)
  • Access: Public, self-serve
  • Base URL: https://api.hubapi.com/
  • Authentication: Private app access token (Bearer); OAuth 2.0 authorization code; OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (remote MCP server)

Any account can use the API. A super admin creates a legacy private app (Development > Legacy apps) to get a static access token, or a developer builds an app that uses OAuth.

Private app tokens are sent as Authorization: Bearer and limited to the scopes picked at creation. OAuth tokens come from https://api.hubapi.com/oauth/v1/token and expire after 30 minutes; refresh tokens renew them.

What can an agent read from HubSpot?

  • Contacts and companies β€” GET /crm/v3/objects/contacts and /companies, with properties, property history and associations.
  • Deals and pipelines β€” Read deals with stage, amount and associated contacts or companies via the Objects API.
  • Tickets β€” Read support tickets and their associated records via /crm/v3/objects/tickets.
  • Activities β€” Calls, emails, meetings, notes and tasks attached to CRM records.
  • Search results β€” POST to an object's /search endpoint with property filter groups.

What can an agent write to HubSpot?

  • Create or update records β€” POST, PATCH and batch create/update/upsert on contacts, companies, deals, tickets and other objects.
  • Associations β€” Link records to each other, e.g. a contact to a deal.
  • Log activities β€” Create notes, tasks, calls and meetings on a record.
  • Archive records β€” DELETE /{recordId} or POST /batch/archive removes records. Confirm with the user first.

Limits: Private apps: 100 req/10s and 250,000/day (Free/Starter), 190/10s with 625,000/day (Professional) or 1,000,000/day (Enterprise). Public OAuth apps: 110 req/10s per installing account. Over-limit returns 429.

CRM records hold personal data about contacts (names, emails, phones, activity history). HubSpot blocks activity objects over MCP when the account's sensitive data setting is on.

How do I connect HubSpot to an AI agent over MCP?

HubSpot, Inc. publishes an official MCP server: HubSpot MCP server (remote).

Hosted at mcp.hubspot.com, GA April 13, 2026 for all accounts. OAuth 2.1 with PKCE; reads/writes contacts, companies, deals, tickets, products, activities within the user's permissions.

You can register that server on ibl.ai as it is, or use the SKILL.md below when you want the agent to call the HubSpot CRM API (Objects API v3) directly.

On ibl.ai an MCP connection is three records, and a working integration always needs all three:

  1. Register the server β€” POST …/mcp-servers/ with its URL, a transport (sse, websocket or streamable_http) and an auth_type of none, token or oauth2.
  2. Create a connection that holds the credential, scoped to the whole organization (platform), to a single agent, or to each user (user).
  3. Enable it on the agent β€” mcp-tool in tool_slugs and the server id in mcp_servers. Both lists are replaced, not merged, so read the settings first.

HubSpot supports per-user OAuth, so the server can use auth_type=oauth2 with auth_scope=user: each person connects their own HubSpot account in the chat the first time the agent needs it.

The field reference is in MCP server connections, and the /iblai-api-agent-mcp skill runs all three steps from a coding agent.

What does the HubSpot agent skill do?

The HubSpot skill is one SKILL.md file named iblai-connect-hubspot. It gives an agent the auth conventions, what to read, which writes need a person's confirmation, the ibl.ai MCP wiring, example prompts and guardrails.

Download the HubSpot SKILL.md

Save it as .claude/skills/iblai-connect-hubspot/SKILL.md, or in your agent's skills folder. The ibl.ai platform skills it calls come from one install:

$ npx skills add iblai/vibe --all

This connector skill is a starting point maintained on ibl.ai, not part of the iblai/vibe repository.

It was checked against HubSpot, Inc.'s documentation on October 20, 2026. Test it against your own HubSpot setup before you rely on it.

What can I ask a HubSpot agent to do?

  • β€œFind contacts in the lead lifecycle stage with no activity in the last 60 days”
  • β€œShow deals in our sales pipeline that are past their close date”
  • β€œLog a note on Acme Corp's company record summarizing today's call”
  • β€œCreate a ticket for jane@example.com about a billing question”

How do I run a HubSpot agent on ibl.ai?

Agentic OS is where the agent runs on ibl.ai: it holds the HubSpot MCP connection, the model the agent uses, its instructions and its conversation history.

On ibl.ai you own all the code and the data, run it model-agnostic across any LLM, and pay with no per-seat pricing β€” so you can deploy anywhere, from your own cloud to a fully air-gapped network.

Which ibl.ai agents work with HubSpot data?

Which ibl.ai platform skills does a HubSpot agent use?

  • /iblai-api-agent-mcp β€” MCP connectors for ibl.ai agents, end to end
  • /iblai-vibe-agent-mcp β€” Add the agent MCP tab (Model Context Protocol connector management with featured connectors, custom connectors, OAuth,…
  • /iblai-api-agent-tool β€” Enable or disable an ibl.ai agent's tools via the platform API

What else should I know before connecting HubSpot to an AI agent?

Is there an official HubSpot MCP server?

Yes. HubSpot, Inc. publishes HubSpot MCP server (remote).

You can register it on ibl.ai as an MCP server, or use the SKILL.md when you want the agent to call the HubSpot CRM API (Objects API v3) directly.

Who can get HubSpot API credentials?

Any account can use the API. A super admin creates a legacy private app (Development > Legacy apps) to get a static access token, or a developer builds an app that uses OAuth.

Does HubSpot data leave my infrastructure when an ibl.ai agent uses it?

On ibl.ai, you own all the code and the data. Self-hosted in your cloud or data center, the agent, its MCP connections and its conversation logs stay inside your perimeter.

Because the platform is model-agnostic, you can point the agent at a model you host, so HubSpot records need not reach a third-party model provider.

Is the HubSpot agent skill free to use?

Yes. The SKILL.md is a free download with no sign-up. It assumes you already have HubSpot credentials, and your agreement with HubSpot, Inc. still governs how you use its API.

Which other data sources can an AI agent connect to alongside HubSpot?

Which other Enterprise systems have a connector?

Which other Small Business systems have a connector?

Every connector, grouped by sector, is on the connectors hub.
